If there was ever any doubt that Vaughn Gittin Jr. was THE Professional Fun-Haver, he cemented that title with his latest cinematic endeavor.
Vaughn flew across the world to join the Mustang Mach-E on a ferry ride to the Faroe Islands, an archipelago that sits 200 miles northwest of Scotland. You can probably guess what happened next. Not only did he soak up the local culture, but he was able to drift the 1,400-horsepower electric Mustang on the island’s breathtakingly intricate roads and even around the world’s only roundabout that sits below sea level.
“I am so fortunate that we [Ford and RTR] have been able to push the boundaries of electric vehicles and do something so new that has never been done before,” Vaughn said. “Pioneering electric-battery power in the Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400 has been a dream for me, and it is our collective hope all the learnings and fun that has been experienced will have a trickle-down effect in future road cars consumers purchase. I am very excited about these future technologies and all battery electric power has to offer!”
While the action sequences showcase the Mach-E 1400’s impressive capabilities and Vaughn’s incredible car control, some tongue-in-cheek interludes highlight the island and its culture. What is most evident when the car is at speed was the aggressive gear whine delivered by the Mach-E 1,400. It is similar to the sound of its cousin the Cobra Jet 1400 but is ever-present during the action, and it sounds as aggressively cool as the car’s performance. Moreover, the Mach-E emitted a custom sound experience — via high-power exterior speakers — in conjunction with Grammy Award-winning artist T-Pain, who also owns a custom Mustang RTR.
“Performance driving in a BEV is an exhilarating experience I never knew I needed,” he added. “Every time I get behind the wheel of the Mustang Mach-E 1400 I am smiling ear to ear from the entire experience. It’s an entirely new and different experience from my other Mustangs that I love being behind the wheel of! Harnessing the power of this beast has taken some seat time as the instant power is truly something incredible, you can see some of the intensity in my eyes, especially on the Funningur road drift section. That was nuts!”
