BIG AUCTION

Numbers-Matching 1969 428 SCJ Drag Pack headlines Mustangs up for bid at Barrett-Jackson in New Orleans

As Barrett Jackson launches its first auction this weekend in the Big Easy, there are some stunning collections up for bid, and one includes a pretty special Mustang. There are a host of desirable Fords going under the hammer, including a nice list of other Ford pony cars.

“Many astute collectors turn to Barrett-Jackson to auction their prized vehicles that have been restored and maintained within their private collections,” said CraigJackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Among the hundreds of vehicles crossing the auction block in New Orleans, we have three exceptional groupings that will be featured. The Sherwood Classics, MS Classic Cars, and Jimmy Bankhead collections are excellent examples of the passion and extreme care taken to preserve these vehicles, ensuring they provide a wonderful opportunity for their next stewards looking to add to a collection of their own.”

Part of the Sherwood Classics collection is a numbers-matching 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 SCJ Drag Pak. One of just 34 constructed, it is powered by a 428-cube FE backed by a Toploader four-speed. Treated to a thorough restoration and backed up by a Deluxe Marti report, this car is expected to bring some big bids.

Powered by a 428 FE V8, a 1969Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 SCJ Drag Pak is just one of several desirable Mustangs crossing the block at the inaugural Barrett-Jackson Auction in New Orleans.

“The diversity of these three collections is amazing and represents some of the most desirable vehicles in the hobby,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “The breadth of these collections resembles our entire auction docket, appealing to enthusiasts from every generation. Our inaugural New Orleans Auction will offer everyone the chance to find that perfect collectible vehicle they’ve always wanted.”

Thenumbers-matching Mach 1 is fully restored and backed up in its authenticity by a Deluxe Marti report.

The ’69 SCJ isn’t the only Mustang on the roster of course. Some other highlights include an original 1989 Ford Mustang LX with just over 77,000 miles; a 775-horsepower 2020 Ford Mustang Jack Roush Special Edition; and a 1967 Ford Mustang Eleanor Tribute Edition.

The New Orleans auction takes place from September 28-30 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, and you can check out the full slate of cars up for bid, right here.
